It all started when a pumpkin became a carriage. I sat with my babysitter, transfixed by the Disney VHS playing on the TV.
“Something simple… but daring too! Just leave it to me! Bibbity bobbity… Bibbity bobbity… Bibbity bobbity boo!”
I have always loved fairytales.
My Barbies were always dressed in custom vintage outfits, handmade by my grandmother. My Halloween costumes were made by my mother. Some of my earliest memories are sitting next to her while she sewed. Watching the intricate movements of the sewing machine creating something out of nothing. Magic! I was so entranced by the process that my mother began teaching me to sew on her grandmothers vintage Singer sewing machine.
I always loved costumes and dress up! All through my adolescence I was a member of a ballet company, and although I loved to dance, I quickly realized my true love was with the outfits the ballerinas wore.
I costumed my first production, Alice in Wonderland, during high school. I then went on to study costume and fashion design in college with the dream of moving out to California to design and make costumes for movies.
The movie industry, however, didn’t allow for as much creative freedom as I had hoped for. So, I decided to go back to my first love, fairytales! I started creating corsets based off of my favorite Disney princesses. The corsets evolved into costumes and the costumes evolved into full blown collections!
My hope is to bring classic characters to life with brand new innovative designs, high quality materials, and my own little sprinkle of magic!
